Longview — The Drive For Veterans group left Longview on Saturday morning, continuing its caravan from California to Florida in hopes of raising money and awareness for veterans’ needs.
The group is driving small, electric-powered hybrid cars that resemble golf carts, said Jennifer Johnson, director of public relations for the group. The vehicles have a top speed of 25 miles per hour; some of them also have solar-powered options.
“We’ve been to a lot of places and met a lot of great people,” Johnson said.
The money raised by the event is going to two veterans’ groups: the Fisher House Foundation and Semper Fi Fund.
