Rusk County, Texas (KETK) — A Rusk County man was sentenced, Thursday, to 45 years in prison for a May 2013 home burglary.
Richard Riley Starr, 27, of Henderson, pleaded guilty to the crime prior to his sentencing.
Burglary of habitation is normally a second degree felony with a range of punishment of two to 20 years in prison, but because Starr had been sentenced to prison prior to this offense, he was subject to enhanced punishment, up to life in prison.
Starr has a lengthy criminal history ranging from drug offenses to burglary of a car, firearm incidents and credit card abuse.
The 90-year-old victim of Starr's most recent crime was present in the courtoom, along with multiple detectives.
Starr will eligiable for parole when he serves as little as 15 percent of his sentence.
