DALLAS (CNN) — A five-year-old boy is in serious condition in Dallas after being accidentally shot by his 13-year-old brother.
Police say the two boys found the weapon in a house and started playing with it in the garage.
The younger boy was struck when the gun went off.
Police said the tragedy shows how vital it is that parents keep their guns safely locked up.
"We try to avoid these things and hope the parents are educated to have their guns locked up in a safe place where their kids can't have access to these weapons," said Dallas Police Sgt. Reginald Matthew.
Police are still investigating the incident at this time but so far have not made any arrests.
