Longview — The Longview Police Department’s toy drive is suffering another setback that is threatening the charity’s ability to reach families in need, causing the department to stop taking applications for assistance.
Blue Santa Coordinator Misty Ryan said more families are asking for assistance with Christmas gifts this year and donations remain low.
“We’re making sure we’re able to meet the needs of every child that we have an application for so far,” she said.
After that, Ryan added, people who weren’t able to apply for assistance will be placed on a waiting list to be served after the department has taken care of the families already approved.
