Longview — Melanie Watson’s eyes lit up Wednesday as she looked into the baby blues of her 1-year-old daughter, Claire.
A little more than a year ago, Melanie and her husband, Ron, didn’t know if they would ever get to see their daughter’s eyes. Claire has a syndrome that is usually fatal to 95 percent of those with the condition.
But Claire has a strength about her that has given her parents their greatest blessing this Thanksgiving.
“We know that Claire has a purpose,” Melanie Watson said. “I get to witness about the miracles that have happened to us. I want people to know that Trisomy 18 doesn’t have to be a death sentence.”
