Longview — The siren from a passing emergency vehicle blended with the final verse of “Amazing Grace” Monday as members of the Good Shepherd Health System mourned the death of one of their own and prayed good will toward four survivors of a Nov. 26 attack.
As if on cue, a helicopter took off on its latest mission as a candlelight vigil for nurse Gail Sandidge ended. The 35-year Good Shepherd caregiver was fatally stabbed during the pre-Thanksgiving Day attack in the Ambulatory Surgical Center in Good Shepherd’s Medical Plaza I.
“Everyone look at everyone and just say, ‘God bless you,’ ” hospital Chaplain Bob Ponder said, before closing the brief vigil with a prayer for Harris Teel, who remained in critical condition Monday from wounds he sustained in the morning attack.
