Longview, TX (KETK) —
KETK has learned that the man who had been in critical condition following the fatal stabbing at Good Shepherd Medical Center in November, died early Thursday morning.
Good Shepherd released the following statement to KETK on behalf of the family:
“On behalf of the family, we are sad to inform you that Harris K. Teel passed away at 3:25 a.m. Thursday. His family was at his side in prayer. While the family never gave up, they accept this outcome and appreciate the thoughts and prayers of so many during this time of tragedy and loss. At this time, they request and appreciate their privacy as they grieve.”
According to GaryBorders.com , Harris Teel's son-in-law says Mr. Teel was a loving family-man, and was in the waiting room that fateful day to support of his family.
We have been overwhelmed by the prayers of friends, strangers, the staff at Good Shepherd — everyone. The medical care he received — from the moment after the attack, into the ER where Dr. David Sadler, an extraordinary surgeon, repaired his heart, and through intensive care — was superlative.
We are grateful for the loving care that Papa Teel received, even as we grieve his passing.
Teel is the second fatality as a result of the stabbing in Longview.
Gail Sandidge, a hospital employee, was killed the day of the incident. Another hospital employee, Karen Bobo, and two other visitors, Teresa Allison and Melissa Sims, suffered minor injuries.

The suspected stabber, Kyron Templeton, 22, has been arrested and charged with Murder and four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
These charges may be altered after the news of Teel's passing Thursday morning, but as Thursday morning, there has been no official word from law enforcement on this matter.
