SMITH COUNTY — A standoff in Smith County leads to Deputies still searching for the man.
It all started Sunday afternoon, when Deputies were called to the Town and Country Mobile Home Park off Highway 110 North.
There, they say a woman claimed her boyfriend had been taking drugs and was holding her hostage.
Investigators say the woman also claimed the man fired off a gun inside the home.
When they arrived, Deputies say the man would not come out, so a SWAT team was called to the scene.
The SWAT team used a flash grenade to get inside, but when they did no one was there.
Deputies believe the man left the scene when the woman left to call for help.
Five hours later, Deputies and Department of Public Safety Troopers were called to a wreck along County Road 313 East of F.M. 2015.
A man and woman were in this red S.U.V. when the woman went to a house to ask for help.
Authorities realized it was the same person from the domestic assault call on Highway 110.
Deputies say they are not sure why the crash occurred, or why the woman was still with the man.
Sargeant Garry Hinshaw with the Smith County Sheriff's Department said,
"He saw the fire department coming and probably thought it was law enforcement. He took off running and we're looking for him at this point."
The woman was not injured.
Deputies say the man had warrants out for his arrest before Sunday and is being considered armed and dangerous.
