Houston — During offensive coordinator Rick Dennison’s weekly news conference with the media, he declined to comment on his close friend, former coach Gary Kubiak.
Kubiak and Dennison were teammates at Denver. Then they coached together with the Broncos. When Kubiak was hired by the Texans in 2006, he wanted to bring Dennison with him from Denver, but coach Mike Shanahan wouldn’t allow it.
A year after Josh McDaniels replaced Shanahan as the Broncos’ coach, he allowed Dennison to leave for the Texans.
Dennison, who’ll call the plays under interim coach Wade Phillips, was asked about coaching without Kubiak two times today, and both answers had nothing to do with the questions.
