TYLER, TEXAS (KETK) — The First Christian Church in Tyler has welcomed East Texans for nearly 50 years for worship.
The senior pastor Chris Pulliam tells us, with time and their church family growing they say God has answered their prayers by giving them a plan for a new look.
The church is expanding the north wing of the building, which will offer more space for many services.
"We are going to right size our building, we are going to add new space, for worship and for children and fellowship,'' said Pulliam.
Ginger Brandt director of family ministries says, church members are so excited for the new change.
"We think it's going to look great...and when we have more spaces and more modern spaces to offer we can give more."
Brandt is looking forward to hosting more community events and tells us the church family has been very patient.
Moderate work is currently being done and the demolition is scheduled for January. The church is still open for worship.
"We believe God wants to transform lives, individually and collectively so everything we do.... we speak and live for Christ," said Pulliam.
The project should be complete by December 1, 2014. It will be a wonderful blessing to all right before Christmas next year.
"God is up to something big at First Christian Church but of course the larger word being spread the word of Jesus Christ," said Pulliam.
