(KETK) - Tyler Tx — The Breeze held a free concert Saturday to encourage people to bring toys to Broadway Square Mall in Tyler. Multi-platinum recording artist, Kevin Rudolf, made an appearance to help spread the word for Toys for Tots.
"I always think it's important to give back," Rudolf said. "And I feel very lucky to get to do what I do."
Despite the cold weather and strong wind, many East Texans spent the afternoon giving back. And the owner and kitchen manager of The Luscious Crumb came to bring goodies to those in attendance and donated one fourth of their profits to Toys for Tots.
"It's freezing out here," said Luscious Crumb owner Dawn Trammell. "But we're out here for a good cause, for Toys for Tots, and we're donating 25 percent of our profits to Toys for Tots."
Trammell was not the one one happy to give, it was all smiles as toys and bikes made their way to the pod Jammin' Jimmy Olson has been staying in. And John Soules Foods came through with a huge donation of 2,000 dollars worth of bikes.
"We really love doing charities for the kids," said Russell Wells. "To be able to see the smiles on their faces is going to be awesome. We just made 34 kids really happy."
Despite the large donation, JJO said he still needs more gifts. They are way behind their goal and this year Toys for Tots has 3,000 more kids that they need gifts for, so they are begging for your help.
"We're still about one thousand pounds away for toys and about 22 or 23 bikes away from 102 bikes," said JJO of his goal. "Almost 8,000 kids asked for help and need assistance. Come and do your thing. Be Santa this year."
