Lindale, TX (KETK) — Plans to open a local farmers market in Lindale in spring of 2014 are currently underway.
The City of Lindale is currently distributing and accepting registration forms from producers for the City of Lindale Farmers Market. Local producers can complete and return the registration form in order to express interest and provide input in the development of a local farmers market. All interested participants are encouraged to register.
The planning process includes determining the days of the week to be open, the best location, and the months of the year to be in operation.
Products to be included in the Farmers Market must be grown or produced within a 75 mile radius of Lindale city limits, however, these guidelines are currently under consideration.
Livestock and other living animals will not be allowed.
Vendors that want to sell foods that require baking, canning, processing (breads, cakes, pickles, sauces, salsa, jellies, preserves, vinegars, honey, etc.) must present the appropriate food handling permits and licenses as set forth by the State of Texas Health Department. It is the vendor's responsibility to abide by any state health requirements, and USDA labeling requirements.
Deadline for initial registration is Tuesday, December 31, 2013.
