Lufkin, Texas (KETK) — Rodney Roth, a fourth generation sausage maker and president of Holmes Smokehouse, has announced the company is expanding into a second location in Lufkin in order to address current growth, as well as future demand for its award winning smoked meat products.
"Thanks to the tremendous growth of our brands, Holmes Smokehouse and Burton Sausage, coupled with our incredible loyal fan base of foodies who appreciate the quality and craftsmanship of our slow smoked meats, our new Lufkin facility will provide the perfect platform for future growth and diversification," says Roth.
The new state of the art facility will provide an excellent complement to Holmes Smokehouse operations in Burton and Houston and will enable the company to offer new products, including smoked turkeys and turkey breasts.
The Lufkin Economic Development Center expects at least 150 jobs to be added as a result of the new facility. The new plant will be located on Loop 287 in the former Loggins Culinary Facility. They expect the plan to be ready in about two years.
Founded in 1970, Texas-based Holmes Smokehouse, together with Burton Sausage, has expanded distribution into many southern states including Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana, Alabama, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi and South Carolina.
