Six International Security Assistance Force service members died following an aircraft crash in southern Afghanistan on Tuesday, according to NATO. They were U.S. soldiers, a U.S. defense official says.
It appears the helicopter's engine failed, the official added.
While initial reports indicate there was no enemy activity in the area when the aircraft crashed, the cause of the crash is under investigation.
The names of the members of the NATO-led force have not been released. It is ISAF policy to allow national authorities to identify casualties.
