Tyler, Texas (KETK) — According to fact-checking website, PolitiFact , the award for biggest lie of the year goes to President Barack Obama.
The remark, "If you like your plan, you can keep it," has been scrutinized since the words left the president's lips.
With 59 percent of voters choosing this political blunder as the "LOTY," the president also made the comment, he never said those words.
There was overwhelming video evidence, 37 different instances to be exact, backing President Obama into a corner which, as presidential approval polls show, will be very difficult for him to get out of.
“Yeah, the editors of PolitiFact selected this because it had the most impact on the national debate,” PolitiFact editor Angie Drobnic Holan told CNN . “It’s something we first flagged back in 2009. We said this is partly right. The health care law does leave in place the existing health care system. But, it’s partly wrong, because we knew back then not everybody would be able to keep their health care plan, and this was the year that it was proved false as these cancelation letters went out at the end of the year.”
