The day after Christmas, Bishop Gorman Regional Catholic High School will remember Macy Chenevert.
She used to play for the Lady Crusaders.
She passed away from cancer in 2005.
"The Macy Chenevert Tournament is special because Macy meant a lot to us," said Bishop Gorman senior Colleen Allare. "We like to keep her in our memory."
"It's really great being a part of the Macy Chenevert Tournament because Macy has such a great legacy at Gorman," said Bishop Gorman senior Brooke Lee. "Having her parents at every home game and them supporting us has been great."
"We talk a lot as coaches about sports reflecting life's lessons," said Bishop Gorman coach Jeff Smith. "Her influence with her friends, her teammates, her faith and her family are life lessons that we take today."
The 2013 Macy Chenevert Patriot Classic will start December 26 at UT Tyler.
Sixteen East Texas teams will honor her memory by playing in the tournament named for her.
