Tyler, Texas (KETK) —
The city of Shreveport has announced the official matchups for the 2014 Landers Dodge Battle on the Border High School Football Showcase.
The 2014 battle will be held September 11th – 13th at Shreveport Independence Stadium. The 14 team, three day format will showcase some of the finest high school football programs in the South.
2014 matchups include:
Thursday, September 11th - Bastrop HS vs. Calvary Baptist Academy (Division III Champions) at 7:00 p.m.
Friday, September 12th - St. Thomas More HS vs. Gladewater HS at 6:00 p.m., and El Dorado HS (El Dorado, AR., 6A Champions) vs. C.E. Byrd HS at 8:30 p.m.
- Saturday, September 13th - Marshall HS vs. Parkway HS at 11:00 a.m., Acadiana HS (5A Champions) vs. Lufkin HS at 2:00 p.m., Olive Branch HS (Olive Branch, MS) vs. John Tyler HS at 5:00 p.m., and Neville HS vs. Longview HS at 8:00 p.m.
“These elite matchups will surely set a state championship environment for local and regional football fans. The city of Shreveport is elated to be a part of this great high school sporting event,” Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover said.
All 14 participating teams made this year’s playoffs in their respective states. Three are crowning state champions (Acadiana, Calvary, El Dorado) and two are state champion runner ups (C.E. Byrd and Parkway).
The Battle on the Border High School Football Showcase began in 2011. The city of Shreveport envisions this sporting event to become a model in bringing wholesome athletic events to Independence Stadium and this region.
