Lufkin, Texas (KETK) — The Lufkin Police Department tells KETK the suspect in a Christmas night hit and run has turned themselves in.
The vehicle used in the hit and run has been located and the driver has been identified. The female driver contacted officials through an attorney and admitted her involvement.
According to police, the driver, whose name is being witheld pending further investigation, struck a bicyclist, identified as Alexander Joseph Jensen, 22, of Lufkin, who was riding with his girlfriend, Allyson McCreary, 20, also of Lufkin, in the 1500 block of South Chestnut Street around 10:25 p.m., Wednesday night.
The crash report states, Jensen and McCreary were headed south on South Chestnut Street when the car hit Jensen, knocking him approximately 125 feet down the road.
Jensen was pronounced dead at the scene and was taken to Carroway Funeral Home.
The type of vehicle that hit Jensen was identified as a gray 2002 Mazda Protégé.
Charges have not yet been filed and her information has not yet been added to the crash report as additional investigating is required.
