Hallsville — While many East Texans were reaching their fifth or sixth hour of sleep after New Year's Eve parties, about 90 runners were lining up Wednesday for a half marathon here.
They came from Tatum, Diana, Longview and other surrounding cities to start their new year on the run.
“I just wanted to start my year off on the right foot,” said Christy Lister of Tatum who ran the half marathon.
The Hallsville New Year’s Half Marathon, now in its third year, included its namesake half marathon at 13.1 miles, a 5K race at 3.1 miles and a one-mile fun run.
