CNN — Thursday, investigators searching for a missing, pregnant Texas woman pull a body from a creek in Harris County.
Authorities say 26-year-old Melissa Sowders was supposed to be meeting her ex-husband the day after Christmas, the same day she disappeared.
Now, Sowders ex-husband is charged with her murder.
With guns were drawn and yelling "get on the ground," authorities moved in to get Matthew Sowders.
"We were going to the bond place because we heard that the warrant's been issued. we were trying to cooperate," said Sowders' father.
But, that's not how the United States Marshals and county investigators saw it. They swooped in and arrested the 28-year-old father of four.
The arrest came seven hours after searchers pulled the body of Melissa Sowders from Cypress Creek. She was in the middle of a divorce from Matthew and was supposed to meet him at McDonald's to see one of their four kids before she vanished.
The 26-year-old woman's family is heartbroken and can't believe anyone would be so cruel.
News of the arrest brought a glimmer of hope for the family, exhausted, and wanting answers.
Sowders attorney can't imagine why the takedown was so intense as he says his client has nothing to hide.
Investigators had no luck getting Sowders to talk.
Sowders was booked into the county jail on a capital murder charge.
