Tyler, Texas (KETK) — Sanitation workers while Christmas may be the most wonderful time of the year, it is also the "trashiest."
Next Christmas, Pine Hill Landfill in Gregg County may look a little different because there's a recycling push from the city of Longview.
The push is to cut down on the large number of boxes, paper and shipping materials that get sent to the landfill after Christmas.
According to city officials, this will save more than $31 for every ton of recyclable goods diverted from the landfill.
Gregg County residents will start receiving their recycling carts in the summer of 2014.
