Tyler, Texas (KETK) — The Tyler Police are on the hunt for a group of people they believe have been destroying residents' mailboxes with fireworks in south Tyler.
Officials tell KETK, around 6:30 p.m., Saturday, 911 began receiving calls from residents that their mailboxes had been destroyed by explosions.
Authorities responded to two different locations where the mailboxes had been blown up.
Police believe a type of firework called “Artillery Shells," was used to destroy the mailboxes. Some of them even started small grass fires.
In these cases a black, green or dark colored extended cab truck, possibly a Chevrolet 2004-2008 model, was seen leaving the area with three people inside.
Police believe more mailboxes have been destroyed, but not yet reported.
