Cushing, Texas (KETK) — An elderly East Texas man is being treated at a Shreveport hospital after receiving burns stemming from a Tuesday evening fire,
Personnel along with Brush/Rescue Truck 747 and Engine 750 responded to a house fire around 5:10 p.m, in the 10200 block of County Road 817 near Gold Mine Hollow in Cushing.
According to the Lilbert-Looneyville Volunteer Fire Department, upon arrival, officials found the house to be engulfed in flames.
The man, and also lone occupant of the home, managed to escape the blaze but suffered second and third-degree burns over his body.
First Responders attended to the burn victim and assisted the Nacogdoches County EMS with the patient until he was turned over to PHI Air-Medical and flown to the LSU Burn Center in Shreveport. He is listed as being in critical condition, according to medical officials.
The home is destroyed and officials are investigating the direct cause of the fire.
