Longview — Longhorn fans got a scare Wednesday afternoon.
Conflicting reports surfaced about the commitment status of Longview four-star defensive tackle Zaycoven Henderson – who verbally pledged to Texas on Dec. 9 after committing then decommitting from TCU earlier in the year.
An ESPN report posted Wednesday said that Henderson – fresh off an impressive showing the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl this weekend – had withdrawn his pledge to the Longhorns.
However, Longview head coach John King told the News-Journal on Wednesday afternoon that he had spoken with Henderson earlier in the day and that the 6-1, 315-pound defensive tackle was still committed to the Longhorns and had spoken with new Texas head coach Charlie Strong.
