Kilgore — A drive to place an alcohol proposition on the May ballot in Kilgore achieved its goal Wednesday, while an effort to do the same in Marshall is picking up steam.

“I have to thank the people of Kilgore for signing the petition,” said Jackie Clayton, owner of the The Back Porch and a member of the Kilgore Restaurant Group, which initiated the petition drive.
