Longview — He's the Sports Editor of the Longview News Journal.
Jack Stallard talked with KETK Sports Director Danny Elzner about Johnny Manziel.
Two national draft analysts have made the Tyler native their top pick in the NFL Draft.
What does Stallard say?
"I don't think so. I hate to argue with Mel Kiper. He's got the big name and more hair than I do. I don't see Johnny Manziel as the #1 overall pick.
This kid will be a good NFL quarterback. It may take a couple of years. I don't know that the Texans want to take that #1 spot with a kid that's a little unproven, a little young, a little immature in spots.
Plus, there would be a lot of pressure on him that I'm not sure he's ready to handle yet, staying at home in Texas, trying to be the savior of a team. I think he'll be a top ten pick, maybe a top five.
You look at the teams that are drafting in the top ten. I've got six of those teams that need quarterbacks. The Jaguars, Browns, Raiders, Vikings and Bills all need quarterbacks. I see Manziel falling to the Browns at #4. I think it would be a good spot for him.
I think he'll be a success. I just don't see him as the #1 overall pick."
