Baltimore — He had a breakthrough season.
Now, he's breaking the bank.
Chris Davis, the Orioles first baseman from Longview, more than tripled his salary Friday.
The East Texan avoided salary arbitration by taking Baltimore's offer.
Davis goes from a salary of $3 million to over $10 million, plus incentives.
The former Longview Lobo led the majors in home runs and runs batted in last year.
Davis hit 53 homers and drove in 138 runs.
He made the All-Star team and he finished third in the Most Valuable Player award voting.
