Lufkin, Texas (KETK) — Two East Texas men are behind bars after evading arrest during a traffic stop in Lufkin.
It happened around 9:00 p.m. Saturday in the 2300 block of north Timberland Drive.
Lufkin Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a van when the vehicle refused to stop.
When officers finally got the vehicle to stop, they did a search of the van and found the driver, Carlos D. Hayter, to be in possession of cocaine and an unlicensed firearm.
The passenger, Derrie D. Scott, 51, was wanted for past warrants.
Both Hayter and Scott were arrested and taken to Angelina County Jail.
Hayter is charged with driving with an invalid/no driver's license, evading arrest with a vehicle, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and unlicensed firearm by a felon.
