Tyler, Texas (KETK) — The Tyler Police Department is investigating a Thursday morning incident in which a pedestrian was killed.
Police responded to the 1400 block of East Gentry Parkway at 6:58 a.m., Thursday, in reference to a Hispanic female who was crossing the roadway and was struck by a truck.
The female, identified as Minerba Esmeralda Moreno-Barron, 35, of Tyler, died from injuries she sustained in the accident after being transported to a local hospital.
Moreno-Barron was crossing East Gentry heading from east and was hit in the inside lane of southbound traffic. She was not using the crosswalk that was provided for pedestrian traffic approximately 90 feet away from where she was struck.
The driver who struck Moreno-Barron was identified as Esteban Segura Cruz, 42, of Tyler, and he was not found to be at fault in the accident.
