Tyler — TJC came close last year.
The Apaches were just one win away from the Junior College World Series.
This year, Tyler hopes to change that.
"I want those guys to know what it feels like to play in front of a home crowd here at Mike Carter Field for a national championship," said coach Doug Wren.
Tyler Junior College has several East Texans on the team.
"I'm a transfer from Henderson State," said Lufkin's Gunnar Quick. "That was four hours away from home."
"Now a lot more family can come watch me play," Quick added. "I'm really excited about it."
The TJC baseball team is ranked second nationwide in the preseason poll.
The Apaches will play their home opener Wednesday, February 5.
