(KETK) - Tyler, Tx — Here's the latest forecast update as of 11AM.
There is an area of light snow to the west of our area. This will continue to slide eastward toward East Texas. The latest computer models are showing this activity to weaken as it heads toward our area. Still some snow flurries are possible. The best chance of minor accumulation will be north of I-20 along the I-30 corridor.
The reason for this weakening system is because of the cold and dry air in place across our area. As of 11AM, here were the current dew points. Remember, dew point is where the air temperature must fall to reach saturation--in our case, produce precipitation.
Overall, it will be very cold today across our area. It's likely that most areas will not make it above freezing this afternoon. Clouds will stay with us all day. Winds will be out of the north between 10-15 miles per hour, providing wind chill values in the teens to near single digits!
Very cold tonight across the area. Overnight lows tonight into the 20s with some area in the upper teens.
Next update will detail Friday's weather information as well as another possibility of wintry weather Friday evening into the overnight. That will come later this afternoon.
