(KETK) - Tyler, Tx — After a very cold week and some wintry weather, who wants sunshine? Well, we are forecasting some sunshine for Saturday and Sunday with above normal temperatures by Sunday. Then, another cold front will move in Sunday night/early Monday—and that means cooler temperatures for the first half of next week.
Let’s break down the next few days:
We will have a cold morning across the area. Morning temperatures will be mainly in the upper 20s to near 30°. Skies will be partly cloudy—and this will allow us to see some good sunshine during the day Saturday. Southwesterly winds will be about 10-15 miles per hour, which will help afternoon temperatures to reach between the middle 50s to low 60s.
Overnight temperatures on Saturday will be in the 30s. Partly cloudy skies will prevail in the overnight. If you think Saturday is nice…
Sunday will be a very mild and warm day for East Texas. South/southwest winds will pick-up even more during the day on Sunday. With a mix of sun and clouds, temperatures will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s area wide.
Clouds will quickly roll back in Sunday evening as another cold front will move through. Timing of the front looks to be after 9PM. As this front, there will be enough moisture to provide some showers on Monday.
With this cold front, temperatures look to be cold, but above freezing. Scattered showers will be likely across our area during the day on Monday and continues into the evening and overnight hours.
The latest GFS guidance suggests that temperatures will at or below freezing by early Tuesday morning—which suggests that we could have some more wintry weather. At this time, KETK meteorologists believe the wintry weather will be confined in Northeast Texas, Southeast Oklahoma, and Southwest Arkansas. This is something we will have to watch. The concern at the moment will be how strong this cold air is by Monday night. We will monitor it for you.
Rain chances really increase on Tuesday before the rain is out of here by early Wednesday morning. Expect a cloudy and cold day on Tuesday.
The second half of the week looks to be dry.
We will keep you updated. Another blog post will be written near the end of the weekend with the latest forecast for Monday and Tuesday.
