(CNN) — A plane carrying military families crashed in the mountains of eastern Algeria Tuesday, killing at least 99 people, according to Algerian state radio.
The military plane was carrying 123 people, including women and children, and was flying from Wergla airport near Tamanrasset in southern Algeria to Setif in the east, the outlet reported.
There was a snowstorm in the area when the plane went down, witnesses told the radio network.
