Tyler, Texas (KETK) — It is with great sadness I report to you today, our beloved federal government is shut down.
The shock and terror filled my soul early this morning when I heard the news. No one in Washington, D.C., who works for ol' Sam could make it through one and a half inches of snow to slay the beast which is the government's job.
Who will will be there to cut checks for those who say they still need help after a year with no job? Who will be there to go after the Tea Party and other so-called "enemies of the president?" Who'll be there to fix the "Obamacare" computers when they won't work? Ok, scratch that.
Then, after pondering these great thoughts, I became even more upset. It dawned on me several times a year there is no Federal Government.
How have we survived this long? How about Christmas Day? There is no government. Also, what about Thanksgiving? What's there to be thankful about? "Big Daddy" is out of town.
Then, you have Good Friday. Well, that has to be thrown out because it comes from Christianity and something our Federal Government will have nothing of, although it's on our money and the monuments are all over the city.
Then you come to President's Day. Why be off? We have to celebrate the new law that the president announced this week that states, "I''m president and I'll do what I want." He was supposedly kidding when he said it
Geez, I hope not. That will ruin the party. If our Federal Government takes days off who will care for us, nurture us, feed us and, most importantly, think for us?
Does this sound stupid? It was stupid, maybe about 20 years ago.
That's my point of view, what's yours?
