Lufkin, Texas (KETK) — An afternoon fire has caused significant damage to an East Texas restaurant.
It happened at 2:54 p.m. when firefighters with Lufkin Fire Department were called to Fuller's Buffet located in the 1100 block of First Street in Lufkin.
On arriva, firefighters found the building full of smoke and flames coming out of the left side of the building in the attic area.
Fire officials began fighting the fire from the inside and worked their way out.
Lufkin Fire Marshal Steve McCool says that the fire department did that to help keep the fire from spreading and to minimize the damage in the building.
The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes and fire officials spent another 20 minutes putting out hot spots.
Fortunately there were no injuries in this fire.
Fire officials believe the fire started outside in the air conditioning unit.
Most of the damages consisted of smoke and water damage to the inside. There was also fire damage to the attic area of the building.
