Longview, TX — Rusk County justices of the peace are in the middle of a warrant roundup that could net the county more than $750,000 should all the overdue fines be paid.
The judges in the five Rusk County precincts have started their annual warrant roundup, in which residents with outstanding citations are encouraged to pay debt owed to each individual precinct.
“At the first of the year, we all met with the sheriff at Pct. 5 and did an overview of things which might help us collect fines that are several years old,” Pct. 3 Judge Jackie Risinger said. “Most people are understanding and want to take care of these things in one form or fashion.”
The “organized collection plan,” Pct. 5 Judge Joe Sorrells said, took effect in 2012.
