Tyler, Texas (KETK) —
An East Texas man was sentenced to 48 years in prison for a setting an apartment complex in May, 2013.
Cantrell Nimoy Sash, 30, of Tyler, was charged with arson intending damage after setting a fire to an apartment complex located at 710 Kennedy Avenue in Tyler.
Tyler Police tell KETK, the incident happened just after 5:00 p.m., Friday, May 24, 2013, and when they arrived on scene they found one apartment completely engulfed in flames and the entire area filled with thick, black smoke.
While the fire was being extinguished, police were alerted to a disturbance in the front of the building. Several men were struggling with a man, identified as Sash.
During the investigation, police say they learned Sash had deliberately set the fire in his own apartment.
