Kilgore, Tx (KETK) — After months of hard work, The Kilgore Fire Department unveiled their Firehouse Bar & Grill Friday evening.
Firefighters have been volunteering their sweat and blood into the renovations since December. They tore down walls, painted, put in new flooring and new T.Vs. The bar and tables were built by a firefighter.
The bar and grill is located at Meadowbrook Country Club, which is now owned by the city and open to the public.
Firefighters Michael Simmons and Will Girdley say they hope the community enjoys their labor of love.
"People kept asking us if we have a restaurant designer helping us..and my answer is well no we don't have one..we have 42..all the things you see in the restaurant from the wall art to the decorations..the table..the bar..every bit of it was designed by fire fighters."
" We put a lot of hard work into it.. Its something they can enjoy..bring family..bring kids..and have a good time."
In lieu of tips the firefighters accept donations to different charities.
