Tyler (KETK) — Icy roads have led to turmoil across East Texas roadways Monday morning. Conditions even halted traffic on one of the most trafficked areas, Interstate 20.
According to DPS, between 3 p.m. to 12 a.m., more than 100 wrecks occurred across nine counties. The story is no different on I-20 Westbound. However, authorities could not give an exact number on the amount of crashes, but did say several 18-wheelers accident blocked the flow of traffic for most of the day.
Traffic on I-20 is now moving at a slow pace. Authorities urge drivers to avoid the area and stay home if possible.
For motorists who become stranded on I-20, troopers are offering rides to shelters opened by the Lindale Fire Department and Red Springs Fire Department.
