Carthage, Tx (LNJ) — A Carthage teen charged in the fatal shooting death of his stepfather has been released on $25,000 bond, Panola County Chief Deputy John DePresca said Friday morning.
Koby Yoder, 17, was arrested Wednesday night after deputies were called in response to a domestic dispute at a residence on U.S. 79 near the Sabine River.
He was released about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, DePresca said.
Depresca said witnesses had told investigators Yoder was trying to protect his mother from 43-year-old Leonard Digiliormo when he fired a single fatal shot that struck Digiliormo in the torso.
“The wife told us that (domestic abuse) happened on a regular basis, she just never called police,” he said.
