Lufkin, Tx (KETK) — A Lufkin man turned himself in early Tuesday morning for allegedly killing another man unintentionally with a golf club in February.
At 3:00 p.m. on February 23, emergency crews were called to the 300 block of Texas Avenue on reports of a dead body, according to the Lufkin Police Department. The caller, Baleriano Garcia claimed he had found his son, Leonardo Daniel Garcia deceased.
Investigators have determined sometime before 3:00 a.m. on the morning of the Garcia's death, Leonardo was involved in an argument with Kentavian Juanya Holman, 18, of Lufkin, near Sunset Boulevard and South Raguet Street.
During the dispute, Kentavian threw a golf club, hitting Leonardo's head. The victim was taken to a local hospital and treated for a cut to his head. He was released at 6:50 a.m.
LPD officers contacted Leonardo while still at the hospital, but he provided little information about the cause of his injury, however, the victim stated he was in the area of Kiwanis Park and was struck by a bottle thrown by an unidentified person.
Leonardo’s body was taken to Beaumont, Texas, where an autopsy was performed. The pathologist found signs of blunt force trauma to Leonardo’s head and preliminary findings from the autopsy indicate blunt force trauma alone could have caused the death.
At 5:15 AM today, Holman surrendered at Angelina County Jail for a warrant issued for manslaughter.
