Texarkana, Tx (KETK) — A duo accused of passing counterfeit hundred dollar bills was busted after they failed to pass money at an East Texas business Tuesday.
Law enforcement received a call from a business owner following two people who had just tried to use counterfeit bills at his store on Highway 59 South. The caller tracked the pair to the city of Nash.
When the suspects pulled into a parking lot at a business, Nash Police Lieutenant Keith Chesnutt approached them. During this time, a woman jumped from the vehicle and ran into the store, but she was caught by authorities after she exited.
Deputies soon discovered the woman had attempted to rid herself of several counterfeit hundred dollar bills by flushing them down the toilet and by putting some in the bathroom trash can.
Both suspects were arrested for forgery and booked into the Bi-State Jail. They were identified as Shelley Samansky, 49, and Kenneth Samansky, 54, both of Denton, TX. Deputies recovered approximately 27 counterfeit hundred dollar bills from the couple during the investigation, which is ongoing.
