Tyler County, Texas (KETK) — Four people have been arrested in connection with a January 2014 murder in Zavalla, Texas. The suspects were captured in Tyler County.
Paul Westfall, Letha Westfall, Kristen Westfall and Cameron Westfall are all charged with First Degree Felony, To Wit Murder, said Tyler County Sheriff's Office officials. The felony means the suspects engaged in organized criminal activity, but could face a more serious charge of murder with additional evidence.
The arrest warrants were served Tuesday following grand jury indictments. Tyler County deputies, along with the FBI, found enough criminal evidence to make the arrests.
Tips led authorities to the foursome's location near Mt. Carmel Church, and the accused killers were arrested at 8:20 p.m. They were booked into the Tyler County Jail on $1 million bond each.
The Zavalla couple, identified as Nathan and Krystal Maddox, were shot dead in front of Mt. Carmel Church in Colmesneil, Texas. Kristen Westfall and her ex-husband were involved in an ongoing custody battle over their 5-year-old daughter, said Sheriff Weatherford.
All four face up to life in prison without parole. No date has been set for their next hearing.
CPS has taken custody of the child involved in this case.
