Longview, tx (KETK) — Some Longview residents were startled awake when an alleged drunken driver plowed into their vehicles early Wednesday morning.
Shortly before 1:00 a.m., the Longview Police Department received a call for help in reference to an incident on the 1400 block of Dartmouth Street, Longview Police said. When officers arrived, they learned three vehicles had been crashed into by an unknown person in a car.
The man believed responsible tried to run away, but he was found hiding nearby behind a truck. He did not fight the arrest when police found him, said Longview Police Public Information Officer Kristi Brian.
Damone Christofer Bates, 25, of Henderson, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and accident involving damage to a vehicle greater than $200. He was released from the Gregg County Jail on $3,500 bond.
Bates blood alcohol content level is unknown at this time. Authorities stated a blood draw was taken.
No injuries were reported in the accident.
