Gregg County, Texas (KETK) — The Gregg County Sheriff's Office has arrested a federal fugitive wanted for possession of a controlled substance and felony firearm possession.
Larry Shane Sillick, 44, of Tyler was arrested after a traffic stop for an expired registration led to the discovery of drugs and a gun.
At about 3:00 a.m., Thursday, Gregg County Deputies saw a black truck driving on Tryon Road with and expired registration. Sillick was found to have an outstanding federal warrant for violation of probation. When the suspect got out of the truck, he dropped a purple bag and stepped on it in an attempt to hide it from deputies.
Officials found the bag contained four other baggies of suspected crystalline methamphetamine, later found to have a total weight of 7.8 grams. A search of the truck revealed a Ruger 9mm handgun in the console.
Sillick was taken to the Gregg County Jail for the outstanding warrant and possession of a controlled substance.
Because of a previous felony conviction, Sillick was also charged with felon in possession of a firearm.
Sillick is being held without bond.
