JACKSONVILLE, TEXAS (KETK) — It's about to get muddy in Jacksonville for the 12th High Lifter ATV Mud Nationals 2014. "It's about racing, camaraderie, it's about fun and riding," said Scott Smith, High Lifter Products.
It's the largest ATV event in the world and kicks off Wednesday, March 26th at 8 a.m. at the Mud Creek Off Road Park. Gates will stay open until Sunday.
"The unique thing about this race id it brings people from all over the country and from other countries as well, we may bring in anywhere from 10 to 20 thousand people, fill up all the restaurants and motels and all our people are welcome out here," said Smith.
We spoke with organizers on Sunday and visited the off road park. Tents were being set up and the park is filling up with campers, ATV's and four-wheelers.
Russel Zastrow drove 18 hours to be at the event. 'We race up in Wisconsin and we come down here pretty much every year. We had a great time last year. We probably have been out here for about five or six years now, we just keep coming back."
There will be a concert Friday and Saturday, ATV giveaways, and $20,000 in prize money will be given out.
