Longview — As freshmen, David Wright and Daniel Rothfus helped bring 3-D printing to life at LeTourneau University.
Now, as seniors, the two engineering majors will participate in the university’s attempt Friday at a Guinness World Record for most 3-D printers in simultaneous operation.
“It was really wonderful for Daniel and I to learn about the process on the first machine,” he said. “To be able to share the valuable experience of building with all of the freshmen engineering majors was really exciting for me.”
Jesse French, assistant professor of mechanical engineering, said LeTourneau University will attempt to operate 50 3-D printers at the same time. The public is invited to attend the event, set for 3 p.m. Friday in the university’s Solheim Arena.
