TYLER, TEXAS (KETK) — Graduation is one month away and it's time to start thinking about after college.
University of Texas at Tyler is having a job fair Wednesday April 9, from 11a.m to 2 p.m.. at the Ballroom at the University Center.
Seniors get your resumes ready because employers are looking to hire. We spoke with Career Services on campus about what students can expect at the fair. "54 employers who are coming to campus specifically to talk to them about a jobs all of them have positions that they are hiring for and they're very eager to talk to our students," said Marilyn Albert, Director of Career Services.
If you students think about it, there are so many people that are competing for the same job, so students need to stand out.
Students are encouraged to bring their resume to the job fair, "It's a way for them to get their name in front if the employer," said Albert.
Career Services can help students get on board. If students don't have a resume them advisors can help them create one. "We are seeing students come in to have their resumes reviewed and polished so that they are prepared for the job fair to hand out those resumes," said Aviance Taylor, UT Tyler Career Development.
Internships are a great way to get more experience to get full-time employment. "Students should be open to considering internships that are paid and unpaid internships." said Taylor.
