Lufkin, Texas (KETK) — Crime Stoppers of Lufkin needs your help to solve a case involving the theft of a bank deposit.
On February 24, 2014, an employee of Ashley Furniture Homestore in Lufkin reported that an unidentified person(s) burglarized her vehicle and stole more than $7,400 she was supposed to deliver to the bank for the business. She reported that the money was in her purse and her purse was stolen from her blue 2004 Toyota Matrix but she is not certain of the location of the crime.
The employee stated that at approximately 3:00 PM that day she left Ashley Furniture on South John Redditt Drive headed to Regions Bank on South Medford Drive but made several stops along the way. She said she stopped at a few businesses looking for a Western Union agent and spent time in Check N Go, located in the 3000 block of South John Redditt Drive. Next, she stopped at a car wash in the 100 block of College Drive where she briefly left her vehicle unattended. Her purse and her employer’s money were in the vehicle, the vehicle’s doors were unlocked, and its window was open. She reported that her trip ended at approximately 4:00 PM when she stopped at Sam's Club on South First Street and realized that her purse and the money were missing. She left Sam’s Club, called Lufkin Police Department, and stopped in the parking lot of Academy on Brentwood Drive to wait for a police officer.
