NBC — The United States Olympic Committee confirmed Monday that Olympic champion Michael Phelps is ending his retirement.
Phelps is expected to return to competitive swimming later this month in Arizona.
Last year the 22-time Olympic medalist left the door open to a return to Olympic competition when he took part in the United States drug testing program.
According to the United States Anti-Doping Agency, Phelps was drug tested twice between July 1 and September 30.
Olympic athletes must be drug tested at least nine months before competition.
Phelps is the most decorated athlete in Olympic history winning 18 golds in the last three Summer Games.
